日本語 | English
Almond Clinic is a non-surgical aesthetic clinic in Ichigaya, central Tokyo, two minutes from Ichigaya Station. Our staff assist you in English, and interpretation is arranged for the consultation with the doctor. If you would rather sort everything out in writing before you come, message us in English on LINE or WhatsApp — we will answer your questions and book your appointment for you.

Treatment areas

Masseter Botox — jaw slimming
This is the treatment international patients ask us for most. The masseter is the chewing muscle at the angle of the jaw. In some people it is naturally strong, and in many it is enlarged by years of clenching or grinding — which is why the treatment often helps the jaw ache as well as the outline of the face.
Botox relaxes the muscle, and because a muscle that is used less becomes smaller, the jaw softens gradually rather than immediately. Most people see the change in the outline from around one month, with the fullest effect at two to three months. It does not change the bone, so if your jaw width comes from the jawbone itself, this treatment will not alter that — our doctor will tell you honestly which applies to you.
Price: JPY 28,000 (approx. 40 units) or JPY 38,000 for a double dose with NABOTA.
→ Read the full guide to masseter Botox in Tokyo — how to tell whether your jaw is muscle or bone, before & after photos, and what to expect month by month.
Forehead, frown lines and crow’s feet
The classic areas. These are expression lines — they appear when the muscle moves — so relaxing the muscle softens them. Lines that are visible when your face is completely still are creases in the skin, and those respond less to Botox; the doctor will tell you which kind you have.
One point worth knowing about the forehead: the muscle there also holds your eyebrows up. Relaxing too much of it, or treating it too low, is what makes some people feel their brows or eyelids are heavy afterwards. We inject the forehead conservatively and keep a margin above the brow.
Other areas we treat
- Temples (temporalis) — for a wide upper face, and for people whose temples have tightened from clenching
- Salivary glands — the parotid and submandibular glands, for fullness under the cheek and under the jaw. This is a different structure from the masseter, and telling them apart is the whole job
- Neck & jawline (platysma) — the thin sheet of muscle over the front of the neck that pulls downwards; relaxing it softens the vertical neck bands and the jawline
- Underarm sweating — reduces sweating for several months; popular before a Japanese summer
- Shoulder and neck tension — for the trapezius
- Chin, gummy smile, lip flip, nostrils and corners of the mouth — small, precise doses
Having Botox while you are travelling in Tokyo
Botox fits into a trip more easily than almost any other treatment, but there are a few things worth planning around.
| How long it takes | About 10–15 minutes for the injection. Allow around an hour in total for your first visit, including the consultation. |
| Downtime | None. You can put makeup back on straight away and carry on with your day. |
| Bruising | A small bruise can appear at an injection point and take a few days to fade. It is easier to cover with makeup after 24 hours. |
| On the day | Avoid rubbing the area, hot baths and saunas, alcohol and hard exercise. Try not to lie face-down for about 4 hours. |
| Flying | Flying is not a problem in itself. If you want to see the result before you go home, book early in your stay. |
| When to book | Message us on LINE as early as you can — we are appointment-only and weekends fill up first. |
If you are here for a week or more and the forehead, frown lines or crow’s feet are what you want treated, having the treatment in the first few days means you will see the result before you fly home — and if anything needs adjusting, we can see you again. For masseter (jaw) treatment the change is gradual over weeks, so it does not matter when in your trip you come.
English support at our clinic
We want to be straightforward about this, because it matters when you are choosing a clinic in a country whose language you do not speak.
- Our reception and counselling staff assist you in English from the moment you arrive.
- Your consultation with the doctor is supported by interpretation — our doctors are Japanese, and we make sure nothing is lost between you and them.
- Everything can be settled in writing in English beforehand. Message us on LINE or WhatsApp with what you would like treated, any photos you want to show us and your questions about price. This is the part most of our international patients find easiest, and we recommend starting there.
- Aftercare is in English on LINE — if you notice anything after you get home, message us.
Risks and side effects
Botox is a medical treatment and it has risks. Please read this section.
- Common and temporary: pain at the injection point, redness, small bruises, swelling, headache, and a feeling that the area moves differently from usual.
- Asymmetry or an unnatural expression: occasionally the two sides settle differently, or the movement is reduced more than you wanted. This is usually adjustable, and it wears off as the effect wears off.
- Heavy brows or eyelids after forehead or frown-line treatment — see the note above about how we avoid it.
- Difficulty chewing or a change in your bite can occur for a while after masseter treatment while the muscle adapts.
- Rarely, the effect can spread beyond the injection site. Difficulty swallowing or breathing has been reported with botulinum toxin products in general. If you have any such symptom, seek medical care immediately and contact us.
- Botox is not suitable if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or planning to become pregnant, if you have a neuromuscular disease such as myasthenia gravis, or if you have had an allergic reaction to botulinum toxin. Tell the doctor about any medicines you take.
These treatments are self-pay (not covered by Japanese public insurance). How well they work and how long they last varies from person to person.
Important information about unapproved medicines
Not approved in Japan. NABOTA, the Korean botulinum toxin type A product we use, has not been approved under Japan’s Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Act.
How we obtain it. It is imported by our physician under his own judgement, through the procedure set out in that Act (yakkan shoumei / import confirmation).
An approved equivalent exists in Japan. Botox Vista® (Allergan), which contains the same active ingredient, is approved in Japan and we offer it here. Note that its approved indications in Japan are expression lines between the eyebrows and at the corners of the eyes; use in other areas is outside the approved indications.
Safety information from other countries. NABOTA is approved by the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) and by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, where it is marketed as Jeuveau®. As a caution common to all botulinum toxin products, there have been reports of the effect spreading beyond the injection site, causing symptoms such as difficulty swallowing or breathing.
Relief system. Medicines obtained by personal import are outside the scope of Japan’s Adverse Drug Reaction Relief System.

How to book — message us in English
The simplest way is to message us. Tell us what you would like treated and roughly when you are in Tokyo, and our staff will answer in English and book the appointment for you. You are welcome to ask about price first — there is no obligation.
You can also call us on 03-5946-8027 during opening hours. Our online booking system is available in English, but the Botox menu items are currently listed in Japanese only, so we recommend messaging us instead — it is faster and you can ask anything you like.
Frequently asked questions
- How much does Botox cost in Tokyo at your clinic?
-
Our prices start at JPY 11,000 per area for the fine-line areas such as the forehead, frown lines and crow’s feet, and JPY 28,000 for masseter (jaw slimming). Every price on this page includes tax, the consultation with the doctor, the medicine, the fine 34G needle, nitrous-oxide sedation and aftercare on LINE. There are no separate consultation or injection fees.
- Do I need to speak Japanese?
-
No. Our reception and counselling staff assist you in English, and interpretation is arranged for your consultation with the doctor. If you would like to settle everything in writing first, message us in English on LINE or WhatsApp before you come — we will answer your questions and book the appointment for you.
- Can I get Botox on the same day I contact you?
-
Often yes, if there is an opening. We are a fully-booked-by-appointment clinic, so please message us on LINE as early as you can — ideally a few days before the date you want. Treatment itself takes about 10–15 minutes once your consultation is finished.
- How soon does it start working, and how long does it last?
-
For expression lines you will usually notice a change in 3 to 7 days, with the full effect at around 2 weeks. For the masseter (jaw), the muscle slims gradually and the change in outline is usually visible from about 1 month. Results generally last around 3 to 6 months, and this varies from person to person.
- Can I fly home the same day or the next day?
-
Flying itself is not a problem. What to keep in mind is bruising: a small bruise can appear at the injection point and take a few days to fade, and it is easier to cover with makeup after 24 hours. On the day, avoid rubbing the area, hot baths, saunas, alcohol and hard exercise, and try not to lie face-down for about 4 hours. If you would like to see the result before you leave Japan, book early in your stay.
- Can I wear makeup afterwards?
-
Yes. You can put makeup back on straight after the treatment, and you can go back to sightseeing the same day. There is no dressing and no downtime.
- What is the difference between NABOTA and Botox Vista®?
-
Both contain botulinum toxin type A. Botox Vista® (Allergan) is approved in Japan. NABOTA is a Korean product that is not approved in Japan; we obtain it lawfully by physician’s import. NABOTA is approved by the Korean MFDS and by the U.S. FDA, where it is sold as Jeuveau®. Please read the section on unapproved medicines below before you decide.
- Is a touch-up included?
-
If you feel the effect is not enough, a touch-up within one month of your treatment is charged at half the usual price for NABOTA. For Botox Vista®, a touch-up is included in the price for the fine-line areas (it is not included for masseter, temples, salivary glands, underarm, shoulder or hay-fever treatments).
- How do I pay? Is it tax-free?
-
We accept cash and major credit cards. Cosmetic treatment at a medical institution is not eligible for Japan’s tax-free shopping scheme, so the prices shown are what you pay.
- Where are you, and how do I get there?
-
